Wiñay: Leadership and Empowerment to grow

Scope: San Juan de Lurigancho (Lima)
Cooperating entity: EM Power

The way in which women and adolescents are traditionally trained and educated, contributes to situations of inequality and violence at various stages of their lives, which are expressed in events such as early motherhood, weak productive development, among others. Therefore, this project empowered a group of adolescent leaders from two schools in Lima, so that, based on knowledge of their rights and recognition of their potential, they can prevent gender violence in their future interpersonal relationships (couple, family , work, etc.). In this perspective, the strengthening of their self-esteem, the acceptance and assessment of their own body and the construction of their life projects were promoted, in a context of dialogue between peers and of questioning the discourses and models that sustain gender violence .
